China Association Of Tattoo Artists’ rule about sanitation and disinfection

1)      Disinfection of equipment: non-disposable needle beak.handle.hemostasis forceps and so on must be made up a disinfection kit and must be disinfected at least 35 minutes under high temperature and high pressure in a pressure cooker. The disinfection kit mustn’t be broken.

2)      Disinfection of skin: the skin of tattoo part must be disinfected with lodophor and must be cleaned by circling from inside to outside without repeat. One part of skin must be disinfected for three times.

3)      Disinfection of environment operation room: the operation room must be sprayed 84 antiseptic lotion or coal phenol soap antiseptic lotion. The studio must be radiated with ultraviolet lamp every day and the time must be at least 2 hours ( No person mustn’t stay in the room when the ultraviolet lamp is on in case of dangerous and hurt.)

4)      Health and disinfection of the operator:

1, Wash hands to elbow upward seriously at least two times before tattooing. The method of washing hands.( pictures-wash hands)

2, Wear special work cloth and mask when working.

3, Don't wear any jewel.

4, Wear disposable medical latex gloves when working.

5, Don't smoke when working.

6, Tattooers are not allowed to tattoo during illness.

7, Tattooers are not allowed to keep long nails and the the length of the nail is limited to 1.5mm.

8, Tattooers must wear working caps with long hair.

9, Tattooers are not allowed to breed pets.

5) Disinfection in the process of operation: It requires to use green diluted liquid soap in the process of operation disinfection. The method is, clean the skin with tissues which are sprayed with green diluted liquid soap. Forbid to spray the part of tattoo with green diluted liquid soap directly. Forbid to use lodophor. Lodine.alcohol which is irritating disinfection solution and so on.

6) The requires of dealing with the wound after operation is completed: Use erythromycin ointment to clean the wound evenly and wrap up with preservative film for 2-4 hours. The preservation film must be unwrapped and the wound must be cleaned by clean water after 2-4 hours later. Forbid to use soap. Bubble bath etc.

The principles for tattooer's self-discipline

1)      Forbid to tattoo minors which are under 16 years old.

2)      Forbid to breed pets at home.

3)      Forbid to tattoo tattooists with fake and inferior equipment and medcine.

4)      Strictly use disposable needle peak and relating to disposable goods.

5)      Forbid to use cinnabar. Animal’s blood or other unclean goods for tattooists.

6)      Forbid to use the irregular folk method for tattooists.

7)      Should tell tattooists the fact that tattoo can be removed.

8)      Advise tattooists not to tattoo lovers’ names

9)      Tattooers should not thrust personal taste upon tattooists but should take the responsibility in choosing or designing sutible patterns for tattooists.

10)   Tattooers can tattoo after the tattoo agreement must be signed with tattooists.

11)   Should explain the method of maintenance in detail after tattooing.

12)   Forbid to tattoo during illness

13)   Should treat tattooists’skin as tattooers' own each time. Pierce each needle seriously.

14)   Forbid to use the method that oneself dare not use for tattooists.

15)   Tattooers should strengthen personal health.

16)   The principle room and the operation room should be separated. Non- operators are not allowed to enter.

17)   Keep well-ventilated in the operation room.

18)   Forbid to sneeze and cough to tattooists.

The requirements of process of working

1）Wash hands seriously before working. Must wear disposable latex gloves in the process of piercing.

2）Work platform. bed and chair should be covered with disposable disinfection tissue or non-woven fabrics.

3）Needle. the cup of pigment. pigment and various goods for cleaning must be used for one time and must be discarded and not allowed recycled used.

4）Antiseptic is not allowed to spray to tattooists directly and should be sprayed on the cotton paper when cleaning the body of tattooists.

5）Should take off the gloves when do other things in the process of working and should wear new gloves when start to work again.

6）Daub antibacterial ointment the tattoo part which is cleaned evenly after tattoo is finished. Should explain the details about the method of dealingwith to tattooists.

7）The equipment used should be thrown away after the disinfection work has done well.

It is necessary to have the correct knowledge and the method of attending about tattoo because tattooing can harm to skin.

1）Add the perfect tattoo pattern to professional tattoers’ correct method and skill is a perfect tattoo’s guarantee.

2）Should explain the fact that tattoo can’t be removed to tattooists.

3）Forbid to use animal’s blood or cinnabar (A rumour has it that tattoo can appear only after drinking.) This method is extremely dangerous.

4）Forbid to use alcohol or ziyaoshui to deal with the wound (The alcohol can stimulate the wound and ziyaoshui can destory the color of tattoo).

5）Uncorrect method and non-strict disinfection will cause infection and infectious diseases.

6）There is a certain degree of ache when tattooing. Any anesthetic does not work. It’s possible to influence coloring.

7）Forbid to use soap or bath foam to clean the wound before it is healed. (warm water can be used).

8）Should smear tattoo professional ointment or erthromycin ointment after tattoo is finished. Clean the ointment and blood by warm water after 2-5 hours and dry water up with absorbent cotton or professional tissues. Don’t smear any other medicine again.

9）It is normal phenomenon that the wound is itch, scabing,desquamating. Forbid to scratch the wound in case of infection or colorless. The underwear should be soft and not be tight.

10）Forbid to eat the stimulate food before the wound is healed.

11）       Forbid to swim or sauna temporarily after getting a tattoo.

12）       Clean the wound with the warm water often will help to heal the wound, but it may be cause infection if don’t care during healing of the wound. Please think it over.

13）       Forbid to get a tatoo during illness. Forbid people who have skin diseases or infectious diseases( such as: hepatitis,AIDS, sexual diseases patients) to get a tattoo. Ask the patients or injuryed people to cure and tattooers can not tattoo for other people during illness.  

14）       Forbid cerebral vascular disease patient,hypertensive patient,diabetic patient, hypoglycemia patient and weak people to get a tattoo.

15）       Consult tattooers or go to hospital for examination if there are fester,suppuration, non-healing and fever.

16）       Ask people to read the tattoo agreement and sign it.

17）       Forbid to tattoo teenagers under 18.

18）       Forbid to breed pets at home.

19）       Keep the nail and body clean. Forbid to wear any jewels.

20）       Forbid to use folk method to tattoo people.

21）              Forbid to eat and smock in public. and forbid non-operators to enter the operation room.
